Fenqi Hu/ Fenchihu was originally developed in the early 19th Century as a stop of Alishan Forest Train between Alishan and Chiyayi. It was used as a fuel refill center or loading center.
It is a small town situated on mountain slope and is at 1400 meter height from sea level. It is now famous for the old street.
Old street is an road with steep slope. It is lined by various restaurants and souvenir shops. The clouds add to the beautiful ambience of the place!

Fenchihu Railway station is the stop for railways as well as buses.
There is railway museum where you get to know about the history of Alishan Forest train. The architecture from last century and the clouds make this place ideal for film shootings as well as pre- wedding photo shoots!

Longyin Temple
Longyin temple in Chukou village is famous for it's distinct architecture. Temple is dedicated to Master Daoji and frequently visited by believers. This part is considered to be the gateway of Alishan mountainous region. So people also come here to pray for safe journey.
This temple appeared in nearly 1000 episodes of two serials and became very popular! Incense burning seemed to be important activity while praying. The temple was filled with incense smoke.
Here you can see a bridge in the background. There are two suspension bridges near the temple. The rope bridges are from Japanese government period which were built to cross the river Bajhang in Fanlu rural township. Now though a highway is built for traffic, these old bridges serve as a photo spot for tourists!
Name of the bridges are Eternal and everlasting bridges. Actually in the Japanese occupation period they were named as Tianchang and Dijjou bridges to commemorate Japanese Emperor and crown prince
Hinoki Village
This is a culture village with permanent exhibitions in it. This is located in the east district of Chiyayi city. In the Japanese occupation period, these buildings were built as dormitories for the officers of Alishan Forest Railway.
Now these buildings are turned into an culture village. Due to the architecture of the buildings, one feels like being in Japan! Lot of information about history of Chiyayi city and Japanese occupation is displayed here. There are many shops and restaurants in this Cypress forest life village and this makes it a popular tourist spot in Chiyayi city.

From Chiyayi, the train connections to most of the major cities in Taiwan are available. The highspeed train also has connections to Taipei.
Taipei, is an international city like most of the capital cities, but by travelling to the rural and forest area of Taiwan, you can see the soul of Taiwan.
